New research this week is adding fresh detail to one of paleontology’s biggest questions: Did dinosaur blood run hot or cold? Clues from fossilized eggshells and bones have now suggested that some dinosaurs were warm-blooded and others were not. Reinhard Dirscherl/ullstein bild/Getty ImagesMarine scientists have used artificial intelligence to decode previously unknown complexity in the calls of sperm whales. The whales produced a catalog of clicking sounds, which the researchers described as akin to a “phonetic alphabet” for sperm whales. What sperm whales are saying with their clicks remains a mystery to human ears, but understanding the scope of their vocal exchanges is an important step toward linking their calls with specific behavior.

Now, after the lab team’s decade of close collaboration with scientists at Google, that data has turned into the most detailed map of a human brain sample ever created. The result is an interactive 3D model of the brain tissue, and the largest dataset ever made at this resolution of a human brain structure. And of course, it would reveal many more problems, things we hadn’t expected.”What about mapping an entire human brain? “Much of what we think we understand about the human brain is extrapolated from animals, but research like this is critical for revealing what truly makes us human. “Each human brain is a vast network of billions of nerve cells,” said Sporns, distinguished professor of psychological and brain sciences at Indiana University.

But the 12 jurors and six alternates hardly look at Trump as they file back and forth past the defense table. Trump is the most famous person on the planet, and the jurors hardly look at him, even from the jury box. Business Insider described this strange-seeming, mutual coyness to veteran Manhattan trial attorneys. "It's very important that the jury see the defendant and the lawyers laughing and smiling together throughout the trial," Lichtman said.

"The over zealous and overtly militarized force used against my sons Justin and Christian is deplorable," Hylton wrote in the caption. Hylton added that Justin Combs' attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, was investigating what she described as "the excessive use of force." A former doctor from Arizona is facing a manslaughter charge in New York for his role in the suicide of a woman who died in a Hudson Valley motel room in November, according to his lawyer and law enforcement officials. The former doctor, Stephen P. Miller, 85, is charged with second-degree manslaughter under a provision of New York State law that makes it a crime for one person to intentionally cause or aid in the suicide of another. Mr. Miller, of Tucson, also faces two assault counts. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in Ulster County Court on Friday and was being held at the Ulster County Jail on Monday in lieu of $500,000 cash bail or a $1 million bond. Mr. Miller’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, said the woman who died in the motel room had contacted his client through a national organization that advocates the legalization of medical aid in dying so that terminally ill patients have some control over how their lives end.

What I Can Still SeeI didn’t think I was grieving when my ex-husband died this summer, but my body told a different story. I slept poorly, overate and mistakenly drove toward our long-ago home, not my present one. Friends wrote sympathy notes, saying they hoped I would “treasure the good times.” It surprised me that I could. In the old photos our adult children asked for, I can see the pleasure we were having. This may be another gift of aging: Without dismissing the awful times, it’s still possible to hold the joys.

Rudy Giuliani gained notoriety as a prosecutor for going after New York City mafias in the 1980s. Recently, he was indicted on RICO charges — the same prosecutorial tool he used to take down mafias. A lawyer who represented prominent New York mobsters said his clients are "fucking thrilled." "I don't want to say the language, but they really ripped Rudy a new a------," he told the outlet. Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who witnessed Giuliani's political rise in the city, also chimed in and told Politico that the indictment was "more than Shakespearean."

NEW YORK — A California woman pleaded guilty on Thursday in connection with her unwitting role in a foiled plot to kidnap a prominent Iranian opposition activist living in New York City and take her back to Tehran. But authorities said four Iranians who plotted to kidnap the activist and paid an American private investigator to watch her used Bahadorifar as a go-between. Bahadorifar pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to violate U.S. economic sanctions on Iran by helping channel money to the investigator. Her lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, told The New York Times that Bahadorifar was herself a victim of a “cancerous” Iranian regime. An Iranian intelligence officer and others were charged in New York last year with attempting to kidnap Alinejad and take her back to Iran.
